Project update - OrenSixGrillz™ (Part II)

Posted : Tuesday, November 14, 2006 by johnybravo at 11:23 pm

After listening to a friends comment on using the name O6 instead of OrenSix, i decided to create a logo for a new fan grill.

I created two new templates with the new logo O6, one for the fan grill and the other for the OrenSixGrillz.

I outline the two new templates onto the respective acrylic sheets. Instead of using horizontal grills, i decided to replace it with the logo.

Drilling and sawing bits and pieces out. While drilling holes for the back part of the OrenSixGrillz i got overly excited and applied too much pressure and the whole thing just cracked.

Drilling holes onto the new fan grill but will be worked on later.

Time to flatten the wire mesh and do some test fitting.

I decided to make a new fan grill out of a new sheet of acrylic cause it was all broken apart. The inner corners of the top part of the grill were rounded.

Look at all the mess from drilling, sawing and filing.

Stay tuned for more updates...

Poor poor stool.. Hahaha.. and O6 does sound quite cool. Btw, isn't your logo a little thin on the edges? I mean if you cut the holes and all, the connecting parts of your logo to the outer frame is very thin. Wouldn't that be flimsy?

izso: thats not a stool, its an old choppping board which has cracked in the center.

If you look closer at the fan grill again you will see there is actually a huge chun of the logo connected to the outer frame. This new fan grill and the old fan grill are quite similiar and the older one is quite stable and not flimsy. Its 2mm acrylic, it can hold up...

I was thinking of using 5mm acrylic in the future or replace all current fan grills with 5mm acrylic but then that would take alot of work :)

maybe i`ll use 3mm instead, it`ll be less prone to crack than the 2mm...
